What Is an Animation Designer?


An animation designer utilizes the latest computer technology to create images and effects for television, movies, websites and video games.

Animation designer is not a standard job title, and the job description varies by company.

They may oversee other animators and work closely with art directors to ensure the animators working on a project are all working toward the same goal. Animation designers may provide animators with projects, feedback and final approval of their work.

The work is a cross between graphic design and video editing and involves creating graphics and animations for media companies and advertisers.

Salary and Job Outlook
Salaries in animation vary pretty widely by industry. The states of California, Texas, and New York have the highest concentration of animation jobs and also some of the highest salaries. Although there is an increasing demand for computer graphics, this work is easily outsourced.

 The number of jobs for multimedia artists and animators is expected to grow at an average rate of 8% between 2016 and 2026.
